  Our Ministry Team

We are delighted to announce that Rev'd Trish Stuart-Smith will be the new priest of our parish and look forward to welcoming Trish and her husband Peter very soon. Trish's induction will be celebrated at The Ministry Centre in Charnwood on Monday 30th August at 6.00pm, followed by a shared supper.

Trish comes to us with a deep sense of call to St Barnabas and St Michael and All Angels, and has experience in both country and city ministry, her last parish being The Good Shepherd at Curtin. Since leaving Good Shepherd Trish has spent a season training in prayer and seeking further intimacy with God.

One of her passions is participating in, and growing, the prayer ministry in the places she pastors. Trish will be half time with the parish and half time as The Diocesan Prayer Ministry Coordinator.

She and Peter are looking forward to joining the parish and finding out about our passions and unique call. She comes with great expectations of what God may have in mind for our next season of ministry and encouragement.

Rev'd Helen Dean is our local deacon. She is married and has an adult daughter.

Helen was a primary school teacher and teacher-librarian before retiring from teaching in order to take up full time study and ministry. She is particularly interested in the breadth, depth and diversity of parish life, contemplative prayer, and the interface between the church and the community.

Helen also enjoys reading, walking, catching up with friends, and textile crafts such as sewing, knitting and crochet.

Parish Council is responsible for the administration of the parish community and for enabling ministry and mission.

We have a Pastoral Care team which ensures that all members of the parish community are encouraged and cared for as well those in our local community with whom we engage in various ways.

Other ministries include Barney’s Open House specifically focussed on the aged, Barney’s Boutique, our second hand clothing and goods shop which is also a place of welcome and friendship for those in the local area, and our Sunday morning Children’s Ministry team which runs a program of learning and fellowship for children during the 9.00am worship at Charnwood.

Others co-ordinate men’s and women’s gatherings, retreat days and study groups.

We also have a vibrant prayer ministry operating within the parish.
