Children's Ministry

|
Children from the age of 3 years meet during the 9.00am service on Sunday at The Ministry Centre in the room adjacent to the worship space.
The education program, 'Seasons of the Spirit' is based on the same bible readings as are used in the communion service enabling the family to share what they have learnt.
The children return to the service to go forward for communion with their parents or teachers. Morning tea for everyone follows the service.

Prayer Ministry
During and after Sunday Communion at
St Barnabas, members of our Prayer Ministry Team are available to pray with those who are in need, would like to give God thanks, or ask for prayer for someone else.
Members of our Prayer Link may be contacted any day of the week with requests for prayer.
Cursillistas meet weekly during school term for a group reunion and time of reflection and prayer.
A weekly gathering prays specifically for the ministry of the parish and the people of our local area. Saturday morning's Hospitality of Silence is a time of meditation in the Christian contemplative prayer tradition.

Music Ministry

Music is an important part of our worship and at St Barnabas we have an enthusiastic group of musicians and singers who lead our worship with keyboard, violin, oboe, flute, and sometimes piccolo.
The children join in following children's ministry with a variety of percussion instruments.

Study / Discussion Groups
Each year we run a number of different kinds of groups on a variety of topics.
In 2009, following our Lenten Study we held a series of Film and Theology evenings. Lively discussion over a light dinner covered the themes of 'Amazing Grace', 'The Darjeeling Limited', 'Babette's Feast' and 'The Castle'.
Spirituality and Ageing was explored under the leadership of Rev'd Professor Elizabeth MacKinlay, Director of CAPS (Centre for Ageing and Pastoral Studies) and in preparation for Christmas we explored themes of Advent.
Our 2010 Lenten discussions will explore "Finding our anchor points in a world of change."
Community Lunch
On the third Wednesday of each month a group of people meet at St Michael's in Hall village to enjoy lunch together. Everyone is invited to come along any time between 12noon and 1.00pm. Tea, coffee and cake are provided; just bring your own sandwich.
During the winter months a superb roast lunch is shared with villagers from Hall at the local pub restaurant.
